Escape
I want to run away.
I have always loved history, and am fasinated by stories of the past. I love fiction, and fantasy stories placed in the 17th century or even earlier. I can imagine myself there, almost. As a Duchess in a palace, a Lady in a castle, or even a peasent living in the village, working to provide for her family. I love hearing about the way they lived, the clothes they wore, the customs they adopted that would be highly frowned upon in current day. I find myself wishing I could run away to the past, experience life there. Of course the closest I can get is shows, books and movies, but I can still dream can't I?
Maybe I just want an escape from life for a bit. It definitely wouldn't be easier, especially considering in past times as a woman I would have very little of the freedom we enjoy now. But I find myself wishing for a different time. Life is hard, and I can't decide if I'm going uphill or down. If up, when is the next down, and if down, when is up coming? I can't escape life, and I am where God put me. But I would love a break. Even just a week where everything goes well, I'm productive, get what I need, and feel loved and cared for. I feel trapped in my body sometimes, with many good intentions but not the energy to go through with them. Maybe in a different time I could be free for a bit. I do love watching and reading fictional stories set in the past unfold. And I would give absolutely anything to be able to wear one of those gorgeous gowns to a masquerade, where I'm the mysterious beauty everyone is whispering about. I could go on with different scenarios I would place myself in, but I'm not there. I'm here. And here for a reason. I will forever be obsessed with history of this sort, and am excited for the next story I'll read. Not even sure as to the point of this post, except I was thinking about running away to a place I can only visit in my mind. And that will have to do.
